UNC expanded their lead dramatically in the second half. FGCU students said they are proud of the team accomplishments this year. “They’ve done so well this season and honestly, like we’re so glad that they even made it here,” Rachel Rice said. “We just are here to support them.” Former FGCU Athletic Director, Carl McAloose is encouraged by the basketball team’s potential and the impact of players’ success to the region. “I think it’s great for all of Southwest Florida. I think it’s great for Florida Gulf Coast University and I think the future is bright for them,” he said.
