Family of Lehigh Acres drowning victim speaks out

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – The family of the Lehigh Acres teen that drowned over the weekend says they don’t understand how he died and are asking for more answers.

According to witnesses several teens were swimming in the lake when 17 year-old Elaundre Foster began to struggle and went under.

The victim’s brother, Elaunte foster said he’s still in shock and disbelief.

“I used to swim with him all the time in the same very lake and we used to race there all the time so right now it’s pretty hard for me to believe that he’s gone,” said Foster.

Investigators say the victim’s friends tried to save him but couldn’t it took divers hours to recover the body. However, Elaundre’s Aunt Jessica Marshall disputes that, and is pressing for more information. She said this doesn’t make sense because Elaundre was a strong swimmer who was in that lake often.

“As a family we’re just devastated and we’re taking this loss very, very hard and we want answers, more answers then what we’ve been given,” said Marshall.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office says this appears to just be a “tragic accident” and since no foul play was involved so their investigation is over.
