FORT MYERS, Fla.- Jimmy Ray Rodgers, one of the two men accused in the brutal murder of a Dr. Teresa Sievers, is being held without bond at the Lee County jail.

Rodgers, 25, faced a judge for the first time Wednesday morning. He has received most of the attention surrounding the case due to hundreds of memes from his Facebook account, most of which depict violence and were posted days before Sievers’ death, and his girlfriend, Taylor Shomaker, who in a sworn statement said he admitted to killing Sievers for insurance money.

Sievers, 46, was found bludgeoned to death with a hammer inside the kitchen of her Bonita Springs home in June 2015. Wayne Wright, 47, the best friend of Sievers’ husband, Mark, is charged with second-degree murder.

Investigators allege Mark Sievers’ involvement, but he has not been charged.
