4 arrested in Gateway home burglary

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Four people have been arrested in connection with a home burglary in the Gateway area of Lee County over the weekend.

Robert Aponte, 37, Michael Zeff, 31, Stephanie Horton, 22, and Kimberly Sandy, 29, are facing charges of grand theft, burglary and the fraudulent use of a credit card. Aponte and Zeff and both being held without bond, authorities said.

All four individuals have a lengthy criminal history. Aponte has been arrested 17 times before on charges of burglary, grand theft, dealing in stolen property and forgery. Zeff is a registered convicted felon who’s been booked 12 times in the Lee County Jail for a string of burglaries. Horton has been incarcerated eight times on narcotics and theft related charges, and Sandy has five priors for prostitution, drugs and battery.

“Repeat criminals, like the four who were arrested this morning, are constantly looking for crimes of opportunity,” said Trish Routte, Crime Stoppers Coordinator. “By taking small steps, like making sure doors and windows are secure, residents can easily protect themselves from being a thief’s next target.”
