FORT MYERS, Fla. – A community is celebrating the life of local pediatrician Dr. Jack Bartlett, who died of medical complications Monday.

Dr. Bartlett’s family created a Facebook account Saturday and posted updates as the well-known pediatrician’s health began to worsen. But the page is notable for the outpouring of love, respect and support offered in honor of Bartlett.

Bartlett worked as an obstetrician and pediatric physician in Fort Myers and Lehigh Acres, according to online doctor profiles.

During his tenure he served generations of Southwest Florida residents as evidenced by the many warm comments on his support page.

“You were my childhood pediatrician and then my children’s while we lived in Fort Myers for a few years,” one woman wrote on Facebook. “I echo everyone’s thoughts when they say how wonderful you are.”

The Facebook account tenderly documents Dr. Bartlett’s last memories with posts about the physician expressing his love for wife, Jeannine.

As is Dad’s nature, he’d already purchased Jeannine’s Valentine’s card before he got sick on Thursday. Our awesome nurse grasped his hand with a pen and helped him sign it.

A final update marked Dr. Bartlett’s passing with a photo of a silver Mickey Mouse watch and the caption “Dr Bartlett has gone home to heaven.”

Dr Bartlett has gone home to heaven.
