Sweet Odin’s celebrates Paczki Day

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. – Mardi Gras is in full swing and Tuesday, Feb. 9 is of-course known as Fat Tuesday. Throughout parts of the Midwest and even Southwest Florida this time of year, Feb. 9 is also known as “Paczki Day.”

A Paczki is an oversize Polish jelly doughnut, made from rich dough containing eggs, fats sugar and yest, a favorite among many this time of year. Glazed or topped with powered sugar and filled with an assortment of flavors, Sweet Odin’s plans to make over 200 dozen just on Fat Tuesday alone.

From strawberry to cherry, cheese and custard, customers can choose from more than 15 different flavors, even the two most traditional Paczki flavors, prune and apricot. Sweet Odin’s is also preparing dozens of King Cake for Fat Tuesday, a popular and traditional New Orleans cake.

Sweet Odin’s is open until 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, for special requests or large orders you can call ahead at 239-676-8120. Sweet Odin’s Danish Bakery is located at 24830 S Tamiami Trail in Bonita Springs.
