FORT MYERS, Fla.- A Lehigh Acres woman was sentenced on Thursday to 13 years in prison for stabbing a Lee County deputy.

Tiffany Garcia, 27, faced charges of aggravated battery and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer for stabbing Corporal Racquel Shott during a disturbance call at a Lehigh Acres home on Arianne Court back in March.

Deputies say Garcia was behaving erratically before she grabbed a knife and began slashing at Shott’s face and chest area before stabbing her in the leg.

Garcia’s prison sentence is followed by 12 years of probation. She must also undergo substance abuse and mental health evaluations, authorities said.

After more than three months of intense rehabilitation, Corporal Shott returned to full-time duty at the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
