FORT MYERS, Fla. – Richard LeBer has been named president and CEO of the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida, the organization announced Wednesday. LeBer replaces longtime president and CEO Al Brislain, who resigned to lead a food bank in San Diego to be closer to family. LeBer has deep involvement with food banks, including leadership positions with the Florida Association of Food Banks, Atlanta Community Food Bank and the Georgia Mountain Food Bank. “The committee screened more than 160 resumes against this ideal candidate profile and concluded that Richard was the best fit,” said Keith Scoggins, food bank board chairman, in a statement. “The board of directors concurred with the search committee’s recommendation. Our board is excited that Richard will soon be on board.” LeBer, a graduate of the Harvard Business School, starts Feb. 29. “My wife and I are excited to come to Florida, to get involved and put down roots, and to help the Harry Chapin Food Bank continue building a community where everyone can prosper together,” LeBer said in a statement.
