FORT MYERS, Fla.- A Tampa-area man who traveled into Lee County to have sex with an underage girl has been arrested, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said on Tuesday.

Larry Urwiler, 67, of Dunedin, Florida is charged with travelling to solicit a parent to commit sex acts with a child and lewd behavior.

On January 21, authorities began an undercover operation where a detective communicated with Urwiler via text messages, posing as a parent planning to allow their underage daughter to have sex with the suspect.

Urwiler discussed travelling from his home on Dunedin to meet the presumed parent at a coffee shop in Lee County, before heading to a residence to have sex with the underage girl, authorities said.

When Urwiler arrived at the agreed location in Lee County Tuesday morning, deputies were waiting to take him into custody.
