LCSO: Death investigation at Iona Lakes apartments

Published: Updated:

FORT MYERS, Fla. – A death investigation was conducted inside a home at the Iona Lakes Apartments early Sunday morning, where three people and a dog were found dead inside, according to a law enforcement source.

Neighbors said they are concerned about a young girl who lived in the apartment.

“I walk my dog over here all the time and usually there’s a little girl in the window,” Elizabeth Edwards said. “And she wasn’t there this morning.”

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office did not release any details about the incident, only saying that it is a death investigation.

Investigators were called to 15224 Iona Lakes Drive at about 4:15 a.m. Authorities said they are not searching for any suspects and the community is not in any danger.

Despite the reassurance from deputies, the large law enforcement presence left Stephen Kish and other neighbors concerned.

“I knew something was going on, so I just walked out and I saw the crime tape and this is not something you usually see here,” he said. “A lot of police and crime scene unit. We knew something serious was going on. It makes you feel very uneasy.”
