CCSO investigating body found in Punta Gorda wooded area

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. – The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) is investigating a death after a female body was found Saturday afternoon.

CCSO’s spokesperson Skip Conroy said they received a call about a body found near Narango Drive. At this point, the body has not been identified. Investigators will take the body to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

Neighbors say a teenager was fishing when he came across the body. They say people who live in the neighborhood often walk by the wooded area, but never expected this.

“I know there’s one little particular area that you can go fishing, and I ride my four-wheeler back there every once in awhile but for normal people, like the ones that live around here, yeah, we go back there quite a bit. But for something like this to happen, no, not really,” Jeremy Ingram said.
