LEE COUNTY, Fla.- A group of local educators are heading to Tallahassee to participate in the ‘Enough is Enough’ rally at the Capitol.

The Florida Education Association is hosting the rally in the courtyard at the capitol at noon today. About 3,000 teachers, parents, community leaders and other education advocates are expected to be there during this first week of the legislative session.

They are protesting a lack of funding for Florida’s public schools, and standardized testing.

Kelsey Lewis with the Lee County Teacher’s Union says, “to reduce the amount of testing and bring back autonomy to our classrooms because our students learning conditions are our teaching conditions, and if we improve our teaching conditions then our students have optimal learning conditions. We’re very excited about going up and being able to show our legislators that we truly care about our students in the classroom and it’s time for us to stand up and show them our strength as a collective group.”
