MGN MIAMI (AP) – Authorities say a Miami-Dade police officer shot a 56-year-old man who they say lunged at the officer with a machete. Multiple news outlets report the shooting occurred Monday night outside of a southwest Miami-Dade home. Police didn’t identify the man but say officers were responding to a domestic dispute between two brothers. Miami-Dade Police Acting Director Juan Perez says when officers arrived to the home around 6:30 p.m., the brothers were “engaged in a violent dispute.” Perez says the officer told the man to put down the machete, but the man refused, lunging at the officer and forcing the officer to fire. The man was taken to a hospital, where police say he was listed in critical condition as of Monday night.
