LEHIGH ACRES, Fla.- Shots rang out at a busy shopping plaza along Lee Boulevard and Gunnery Road Saturday night in Lehigh Acres.

One man was hit by a bullet that grazed his head.

“I heard rapid pops and right away I could tell it was gunshots and not fireworks,” said Christopher Hood.

The plaza is steps away from where a late night shooting happened on New Year’s Eve.

“You know I kind of hesitated. I just was thinking, ‘what the hell is going on outside?’ Ten or 15 seconds pass, then I pull out my phone and dialed 911,” said Hood.

Hood is just one of several witnesses who heard the shooting.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office says a silver Chevrolet Impala sped through the Shoppes of Lehigh, with three or four men opening fire before speeding away.

Deputies say one man bent down for cover and was grazed by a bullet on the side of his head. The victim was able to drive himself to the hospital and is expected to be okay.

No arrests have been made in the shooting.
