NAPLES, Fla.- The Red Cross in Naples is preparing to send a volunteer to Dallas, Texas to help those affected by the flooding and tornadoes. Larry Ohleyer, 67, has been with the Red Cross for a year and half, and will head out on his third deployment this year. Most recently, Ohleyer went to South Carolina in October to help those struggling from the devastating flooding. In the summer, he went to help assist with the wildfires in California. “To me, it’s just an important part of life. I love helping people and this is a good opportunity to do that.” Ohleyer is a Navy veteran with 25 years of experience in health services and disaster relief. He’s expected to be in Dallas for at least two weeks.
