ISLES OF CAPRI, Fla.- An Isles of Capri homeowner says the people he trusted to clean his home stole thousands in jewelry, gift cards and more.

“My wife said, ‘let me check the cupboard where I keep these other rings and things,'” homeowner Ed Munn said. “They were gone, and then we went, ‘uh oh, we’re in trouble.’ They had the run of the house for a week while we were gone on a cruise.”

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office says Jennifer and Shane Sanders stole gift cards, hundreds of dollars worth of change, several gold rings, diamond earrings and several checks.

“They tried to cash that, and those people called and said ‘did you write a check for plumbing for $660?’ and I said ‘no,'” said Munn. “So, that’s why I think we got lucky.”

Munn says Jennifer Sanders was recommended to him by his former cleaning company, which closed.

“We wanted to meet them before we actually let them in the house,” Munn said. “We called them again, they didn’t come and we left the key under the mat.”

Mann said the Sanders left a polite note saying they would be back to go over the floors again.

Although his floors won’t be done, Munn says it could have been a lot worse.

“They could have taken the TVs, the motorcycle, the car keys were here,” he said.

Jennifer and Shane Sanders were arrested and booked into the Collier County Jail.
