PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- Many changes are in store for The Promenades Mall off of U.S. 41 in Port Charlotte as new ownership takes over.

Although the center is buzzing with shoppers, most people think it still needs a spot to eat.

“I mean there’s everything here, why not add a restaurant, I mean everyone would come here,” said resident Sandy Ward.

“Well if it was a restaurant, breakfast… there’s no good breakfast around here,” said Victoria Shelton.

A public survey shows hundreds of people agree they’d like to see a restaurant or two in the busy shopping center. New owner, Jeff Morr says he wants to make that happen. Morr would also like to add covered walkways and to brighten up the mall with improved landscaping.

“Flowers, bushes, more palm trees… especially flowers, add some color,” said Ward.

“I think they should add flowers or something like that to make it pretty looking,” said Bonnie Kinney, who works at the Promenades Mall.

Business owner Rhonda Mongeon couldn’t be more excited for the makeover.

“You know this is a little part of Port Charlotte that has been forgotten. I think, I really do, I think everything went that way towards North Port and Punta Gorda and we’re just in the middle where everything has been forgotten,” said Mongeon.
