Laptop with wedding photos stolen from Fort Myers restaurant owner

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The owner of Sub & Pub says she believes a man she recently hired robbed her on his first day on the job.

Roni Clauser has owned the restaurant near downtown Fort Myers for two years and is often working alone or alongside her son. She recently hired a new employee to help with the busy tourist season.

“I went outside for maybe about five minutes and I came back in and my laptop was gone, cash, all my cash in my money bag was gone, my credit card, my checkbook–and my cook,” Clauser said.

However, she says it’s what was on that laptop that is worth far more to her than any amount of money that was taken.

“My husband passed away a year ago. All of our wedding pictures, all of our pictures are in the laptop and I don’t–I can’t get them without the laptop.”

Her husband, who helped run the restaurant, passed away suddenly last December. She says this month has already been difficult, but now she only has one photo from her wedding day.

“His parents pictures are in there, we went to Ireland, Spain, Scotland for our anniversary–those are all in there. We got married in Vegas on Halloween night, those are all in there,” Clauser said, holding back tears.

Above all, she says she just wants those precious memories back.

“Everything else, just drop it off at the door, I don’t even care,” she said. “Just have someone bring it in, I just want my pictures back.”

Clauser filed a police report but says she has not heard back from detectives. According to the report, the computer is a silver HP worth about $900. There is currently no serial number available.
