Captiva lights up for the Holidays

CAPTIVA ISLAND, Fla. – The Island of Captiva is shining bright and in the holiday spirit as the Holiday Village continues and several festive activities get under way.

Since Thanksgiving weekend the Captiva Holiday Village has been showcasing island life holiday style, inviting the public to see it all.
Upcoming events include:

December 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 & 26th – South Seas Island Resort Holiday Stroll

Guests can walk around the resort and yacht basin, taking in a magical display of Christmas lights that would make Clark Griswold jealous. Families can enjoy s’more roasting, gingerbread house making, ornament creating and even a visit from Santa Clause. South Seas is normally a private resort, however during the holiday stroll it’s open to the public. Children 12 and under are free, adults are $10 with all proceeds benefiting the Community Cooperative, a local non-profit agency which cares for the hungry and homeless in Southwest Florida.

Saturday, December 12th – Captiva Holiday Lighted Boat Parade

More than 30 boats will work their way from South Seas Island Resort, down Roosevelt Channel showcasing a true display of holiday spirit. Lights, decorations and all, the boats can be viewed from the Green Flash, Tween Waters Resort and McCarthy’s Marina. Boats will be judged on their decorations, WINK News This Morning Anchor, Jennifer Stacy returns once again as one of the judges. Boats depart from South Seas after sunset.

Sunday, December 13th – The Chapel by the Sea Holiday Sing

Take in the holiday season with Christmas carols and songs from the Captiva Chapel by the Sea. Celebrate the season with your favorite tunes and enjoy a few new ones.

Saturday, December 19th – Golf Cart Parade  

For the 6th year, more than 50 decorated golf carts will work their way down Captiva Drive and Andy Rosa Lane in what’s become a delightful island tradition. Golf carts become everything from Santa’s sleigh to gingerbread houses and work to win the contest for best designed golf cart and the coveted people’s choice award. Captiva Island is located in Lee County, north of Sanibel Island accessible via the Sanibel Causeway. McCarthy’s Marina, home to Captiva Cruises is located at 11401 Andy Rosse Lane on Captiva Island. South Seas Island Resort is the most northern point on the island, located at 5400 Plantation Road.
