TALLAHASSEE- A former Florida State University quarterback who was kicked off the team for hitting a woman at a bar has reached a plea deal.

De’Andre Johnson pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery on Thursday. Johnson was kicked off the team after video surfaced of him punching a woman at a Tallahassee night club.

Johnson will have to complete a 10-day sheriff’s work camp. He’ll also serve six months probation and pay $700 in court fees, and $199.98 cents of restitution to the victim.

After the plea deal, victim Abigail Husty became emotional.

“It affected a lot of aspects of my life. It was really hard to deal with. I couldn’t really deal with the fact that that incident happened, it’s been a long process and a lot of healing has been happening– counseling and things like that to get my life back on track,” said Husty.

Johnson’s attorney, Jose Baez, says his client is still trying to rebuild himself and still plans on playing football. The victim says he should still get that chance, but not at a big program.

Johnson is currently enrolled at East Mississippi Community College where he didn’t play football this past season.
