Couple catches Rachael Ray’s attention with wedding gifts request

CAPE CORAL, Fla.- A Cape Coral couple told guests they didn’t want gifts for their wedding, but what they did ask for caught the attention of famous chef Rachael Ray. Now, she’s inviting the couple to appear on her show.

“I told you, we have some of the nicest viewers in the world,” said Rachael Ray.

Leigh and Jay Clark believe generosity is the best investment.

“I promise if someone tried a ‘random act of kindness’ just once, the feeling of joy is contagious,” said Jay Clark.

The couple got married in September and their wedding registry was very simple. They wanted people to give “random acts of kindness” instead of gifts.

“We had a guest of ours who flew in and had premium airline seats, they gave up their seats so a family that was split across the plane could sit together,” said Leigh Clark.

One wedding guest donated her time at a pet shelter, while another dropped off items to a women’s shelter.

“We felt like we were so blessed with love, so to have everyone giving love out to the world in celebration of our union was amazing,” said Leigh Clark.

Rachael Ray heard their story and wanted to be part of the gift that keeps on giving, so she teamed up with the United States Postal Service and invited the Clarks to appear on her show.

Giving is something the couple has been doing for a while now and while filming in New York, they made sure to keep on spreading the love.

“When we were in NYC, we were able to do a wonderful act for the police officers that were on the street by giving them small ‘random acts of kindness’ cards, which were gift certificates for cups of coffee,” said Jay Clark.

Rachael Ray returned the kindness and gave the couple a big surprise! The episode airs Friday at 10 a.m. on WXCW.
