FORT MYERS, Fla.- The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Lee County Port Authority are holding a TSA PreCheck enrollment event at Southwest Florida International Airport this week.

Hours of operation will be from 8 a.m.- 12 p.m. and 1 p.m.- 5 p.m. The event is pre-security and does not require the applicant to be a ticketed passenger.

TSA PreCheck is a program that allows low-risk travelers to experience expedited security screening at participating U.S. airports.

The program is open to U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents. Applicants will need to provide documentation to confirm their citizenship or immigration status as well as provide fingerprints.

Eligible persons can go through a pre-enrollment process on line at www.tsa.gov/tsa-precheck, make an appointment, and complete their enrollment at the enrollment location. Walk-ins are accepted. The program costs $85 for five years. Once approved, travelers will receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN) and will have the opportunity to utilize the service lanes at security checkpoints at more than 150 participating airports with 12 participating airlines.

Privileges enable travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and their 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels bag in their carry-on in select screening lanes.
