Raven Air to offer flights from Punta Gorda to Key West

PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- Beginning in 2016, Southwest Florida residents can jump on a direct flight from Punta Gorda to Key West.

“I think it’s an awesome idea, I think it’s better than a long drive and having to go on the ferry and everything. I think it’s just so much better,” said Haley Goshorn.

Raven Air Island Hoppers will begin operating the flights on January 15. You can take a flight to visit Key West’s well-known mile marker zero on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays.

Residents say they are most excited about cutting down on the long drive time. The trip from Punta Gorda to Key West will be about an hour-long. The plane will hold five passengers.

The owner of Raven Air, Jeffery Fonner, says choosing Punta Gorda Airport was simple.

“One of the reasons I picked Punta Gorda was because it’s easy, easy access to the highway. Easy to park your car to get right in, get off work and go,” said Fonner.

Gary Quill with the Punta Gorda Airport says, the new flight is a great addition to their growing airport.

“Key West, we’re hopeful that will add a little flavor to the mix we have now which are mostly northern cities,” said Quill.

People can start booking their flight on Dec. 15 for just $129 each way plus tax.
