Fort Myers woman carjacked while shopping

FORT MYERS, Fla.–Terrifying moments for a shopper as she walked out of a Big Lots on Palm Beach Boulevard.

The victim says after shopping she walked to her car and even was aware her surroundings.

But just as she unlocked her vehicle, a man came out of nowhere and violently pushed her out of the way demanding her car.

The victim says the crook had a gun, threatened her, then took off in her vehicle.
The whole thing happened in just seconds.

“This time of year and things like this happening in our community, we try to be safe,” said shopper Herminio Llopiz.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office quickly set up a large scene and a helicopter searched up above for the thief.
But tonight the criminal is still on the loose.

“That is very, very dangerous, that is really really, you need to think about your surroundings,” said Llopiz.

Deputies tell WINK News the man got away in a white Toyota car.
