Fire destroys Bonita Springs home, investigation underway

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla.-  Neighbors on Carl Circle in Bonita Springs awoke to the sound crackling flames shooting into the air early Sunday morning.

One home was engulfed in flames for almost an hour, fire ripped through walls and left only burnt rubble behind.

The Bonita Springs Fire Department says they arrived on scene just after 3 a.m., and asked neighbors to evacuate their homes for their safety.

It took fire rescue about 40 minutes to put out the flames. The house has been deemed a total loss.

WINK News spoke to the homeowner, who says he’s devastated by the destruction to his home. He lived in that home with his wife, three children and their three dogs. Thankfully, none of them were home were home when the fire erupted.

One neighbor captured the tall flames shooting out of the roof before crews were able to get it under control. Officials believe the flames may have started in the garage, but are unsure what caused the initial spark.

The State Fire Marshal has now opened an official investigation and is now looking into the incident.
