DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) – A Facebook posting of a dog with its mouth duct-taped shut is causing outrage in the Daytona Beach area.
The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports that animal lovers inundated Volusia County law enforcement Friday night and early Saturday morning with calls and online messages after images the dog appeared on the site.
The photos were posted to the wall of a Facebook user listing her hometown as South Daytona.
Authorities have asked people to stop inundating them with calls about the posting.
The city of South Daytona said an animal cruelty investigation is underway. Officials said they had information that the dog is ok and the person who posted the photos was out of state for Thanksgiving. Investigators said they would question her when she returns.
