FORT MYERS, Fla. – The wait is over, as The News-Press heads to print early and releases their famous Thanksgiving Day newspaper one day early, on Wednesday. Starting at 2 p.m. you can purchase the 5-pound paper for just $2 at the News-Press parking lot in Fort Myers, located at 2442 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. It’s the first time in 131 years of publishing the paper, that they’ve gone to print early to make the issue available before Thanksgiving. Subscribers with home delivery will also get their copy early Thanksgiving morning, complete with 634 pages and 68 inserts. Early release of the paper will mean shoppers can locate those Black Friday deals well before they even start cooking their Thanksgiving meal. Staff have been working for several weeks to print inserts and prepare the paper for print. An estimated 86,000 papers will hit newsstands, grocery and convenience stores starting Wednesday afternoon.
