TITUSVILLE, Fla. (AP) – Authorities say a central Florida police officer shot and wounded a man suspected in multiple stabbings, two of which were fatal.

Titusville Police Chief John Lau says an officer and K-9 responded to the Space Coast Regional Airport on Friday morning and found a contractor had been stabbed. Florida Today reports that the officer confronted 24-year-old Zachary Joseph Penna, who authorities say stabbed the police dog. The officer shot Penna at least three times and used a Taser on him.

Penna and the contractor were hospitalized with serious injuries.

The Palm Beach Post reports that Penna is also suspected of crimes in South Florida, about 150 miles away. Police there connected the SUV that Penna was driving to two men who were fatally stabbed in a Greenacres home.
