NATICK, Mass. (AP) – Police say a Massachusetts man has been arrested with a gym bag stuffed with 33 pounds of cocaine worth $1.5 million.

The MetroWest Daily News (http://bit.ly/1MGmHz0) reports that 30-year-old Rafael R. Guzman, of Malden, was arrested Wednesday and pleaded not guilty Thursday to a cocaine trafficking charge in Natick District Court.

State police say they were conducting surveillance at the Natick rest stop on the Massachusetts Turnpike when they saw Guzman arrive alone, enter the food court, buy food and sit down with another man who had the bag under the table. Police say when Guzman left, he took the bag with him. Police say they also found $15,000 in cash in his car.

Guzman was held on $500,000 bail.

His lawyer questioned the legality of the search.

State police and the district attorney didn’t immediately return calls seeking information on the other man in the transfer.
