BFMTV / MGN FORT MYERS, Fla. – College and universities across Southwest Florida are on alert after the recent Paris attacks, with some local students currently studying abroad in Europe. At least one school in Southwest Florida has reached out to its students. Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW) contacted every student out of the country, to remind them to stay vigilant. “Students know that they need to get to the nearest embassy or consulate,” said Dr. Laura Weir with FSW. The attacks do have some students second guessing an overseas education. “I would definitely take into consideration certain aspects of what’s going on, like current events and stuff before I decide to go overseas or something,” said Brianna Blount, a junior at Florida Gulf Coast University.
