FORT MYERS, Fla.- A Cape Coral teen accused of stabbing a homeless man to death will spend 25 years behind bars.

Yoel Munoz, 14, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and burglary while armed in court on Monday.

Police say in August 2014, Munoz went to a homeless camp armed with a knife and killed 51-year-old Thomas Bergstrom.

The teen admitted he knew the victim, saying the two had smoked weed together in the past. Munoz said the night Bergstrom died, he was trying to steal the homeless man’s weed.

After finishing his sentence, Munoz will spend 15 years on probation, with mental health and anger management counseling.
