Stolen car smashes through Rural King store

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla.- The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is searching for the suspects who drove a stolen car through the Rural King on South Tamiami Trail in Bonita Springs.

Authorities say they responded to the store after an alarm went off just after 4 a.m. on Thursday.

Officials believe the crash was part of an attempted break-in. Two men were captured inside shortly after the car plowed through, but the suspects were unable to take anything from the store.

“Well I was a little surprised when we walked up to the store and saw that there was no door,” said shopper Peggy Tatarzzuch.

No one was injured in the crash. The store remains open as crews work to repair the doorway.
