PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- Detectives are searching for the suspect in a strong-armed robbery Saturday morning outside of a Metro PCS store.

Around 11 a.m., the victim told authorities a man dragged him out of the Metro PCS store on the 2500 block of Tamiami Trail. Once they were outside the store, the suspect allegedly grabbed the victim’s cellphone from him, twisted the phone and threw it on the ground, breaking it.

The suspect is described as being around 6 feet tall, weighing between 180 and 190 pounds with a muscular build. Authorities say the man’s hair was in cornrows with pig tails in the back.  He had gold front teeth and a goatee.

The man left the scene in a gold, four-door sedan with tinted windows.  The vehicle was described as looking like a late 1990s or early 2000s model similar to a Honda.

If you have any information, call the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office at 941-639-2101, or Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477).
