Sandcastles to shrimp boats, grab a brush and “Paint the Beach”

FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. – Sixty artists have arrived in Southwest Florida to spend a week painting the beach, plein air style and compete for a grand prize of $1,000 and a 1/3 page ad in Plein Air Magazine.

The annual competition and sale is a favorite for artists and those who call Southwest Florida home. Since Nov. 2, artists have been painting scenes form all over the beach, morning, day or night, there’s nothing off limits as they transform Fort Myers Beach life to canvas.

The Fort Myers Beach Art Association will award a total of $3,000 in award money to the top three artists. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend the award ceremony and collectors preview reception at Santini Marina Plaza on Friday, Nov. 6 from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m.

From Nov. 6- Nov. 8, you can purchase work from the artists at the Santini Marina festival tent, all proceeds from art sales go to benefit the Fort Myers Beach Art Association.
