CAPE CORAL, Fla.- Two people, including a 7-month-old baby, remain in the hospital following a deadly standoff Saturday morning.

Cape Coral police say 34-year-old Rolly Thomas was killed at his home on the 1500 block of NE 43 Lane when a domestic disturbance turned violent.

Officers say Thomas shot one person in the home and opened fire on police, forcing authorities to shoot back.

Thomas was arrested by Cape Coral police for a domestic disturbance back in June. According to the police report obtained by WINK News, on June 12, Thomas’ live-in girlfriend, with whom he had children, told officers that Thomas came home from work and started yelling at screaming at her over car insurance.

According to court documents later filed, Alexander says Thomas “..grabbed my hands wrestled me for the phone and destroyed the television in the living room. He said to me, ‘you need to leave or else you will get hurt.'”

Alexander was later granted a restraining order against Thomas and she was allowed to stay in his home with her children. Thomas was in the process of appealing the decision and trying to get his house back when he died Saturday.

Police have not released the names of the two who were injured in the standoff. The officer who was involved in the shooting has been placed on paid administrative leave while the investigation continues.
