FORT MYERS, Fla.- A man is under arrest in connection with a string of home burglaries in the Botanica Lakes community, said Fort Myers police.

Police say Paul Kenney, 54, targeted over 60 houses in the neighborhood off Treeline Avenue. He cut lanai screens and entered the homes through unlocked rear sliding glass doors.

Fort Myers police say they linked Kenney to the crimes after he was arrested by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office for multiple burglaries in Bonita Springs. At the time of his arrest, Kenney was wearing the same hat and carrying the same backpack captured on video surveillance from a home in the Botanica Lakes community.

Investigators say Kenney had items on him taken from some Botanica Lakes homes and later confessed.

Kenney is now facing 21 counts of burglary to an occupied dwelling, 19 counts of criminal mischief, two counts of grand theft, and three counts of petit theft.
