Multiple homes burglarized in Botanica Lakes

FORT MYERS, Fla.-The Fort Myers Police Department (FMPD) is investigating multiple home burglaries Thursday morning at the Botanica Lakes community off Treeline Avenue.

Authorities say homes on Peace Lilly Way, Sparkleberry Drive and Silver Maple Court were burglarized.

“They took the purse and my two rings off the kitchen table,” victim Louise Crowley said.

Crowley and her husband John were one of a number of people whose homes were broken into Wednesday night.

“This is our fourth robbery. We were robbed in Cape Coral three times,” said John.

FMPD says they don’t know exactly how many homes were targeted.

Resident Tom Lear said police told him the thieves broke in to some homes by cutting the screen doors. One victim showed WINK News exactly how the crooks tried to get into her home. She now has to patch a hole in her door.

“Apparently, someone came into the backyard at night, opened the screen door and went into the sliding door, which had apparently been left unlocked,” Lear said.

Residents are asked to call police if they’ve noticed any suspicious activity in the area.

If you have any information, call the Fort Myers Police Department at 239-321-7700, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477) or text message C-R-I-M-E-S (274637) Keyword FMPD. Tipsters can remain anonymous. Anyone with information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the burglary suspects could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
