HUDSON, Fla. (AP) – Sheriff’s deputies say the body of a Florida man who was recently arrested on a child porn charge has been found floating in the Gulf of Mexico.

A boater called the U.S. Coast Guard on Tuesday after spotting the body about three miles off of Hudson, northwest of Tampa, authorities say.

The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said the man was identified as 64-year-old John Curtis Sr. of Port Richey. A statement says investigators learned Curtis left a marina Tuesday morning on a friend’s boat, which was later found in the Gulf.

Sheriff’s officials say foul play is not suspected, but that investigators are awaiting a cause of death from the medical examiner.

Curtis was arrested Oct. 8 on a charge of possession of child pornography, officials say.
