FORT MYERS, Fla.- Today, former State Attorney’s Office investigator Charles Lawson will be sentenced for a deadly hit and run crash that happened on Christmas Day 2013. On Friday, Lawson pleaded no contest to charges of leaving the scene of a crash that resulted in death and driving under the influence. Sasen’s family says they want justice for Michael, who was walking on McGregor Boulevard when the crash happened. The judge will decide Lawson’s sentence. He could face a maximum of 30 years behind bars. The state is recommending five years in jail and six years probation, but the defense says jail time is not appropriate for the situation, and recommends just probation or house arrest. The sentencing hearing happens at 11 a.m.
