Land on Chiquita Blvd. approved for gas station

CAPE CORAL, Fla. – Another gas station could soon be built in Cape Coral, but those who live feet away from the available land are furious.

On Wednesday, the City of Cape Coral approved the land along Chiquita Boulevard and Gleason Parkway for the possibility of building another gas station. Neighbors tell WINK News they are worried about the future of their community.

“I don’t see a need for it here and even if there was a need for it, doesn’t make sense to me they would put gas tanks in the ground 50 feet from our homes,” said resident Sandra Lechner.

“Having a gas station over there, there is going to be light disturbance, there is going to traffic, noise, pollution on top of safety issues,” said resident Donna Whitehead.

WINK News spoke to the owner of the land. He says, right now the land does not have any developers looking to build a gas station.
