BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) – A Florida man faces attempted murder charges after authorities say he told his girlfriend he was going to kill her as he drove on Interstate 75 south of Tampa.

According to a Manatee County Sheriff’s report, Edward Bronner was going 120 mph late Monday before eventually leaving the interstate and crashing. No one was seriously injured.

Deputies say Bronner and his girlfriend had been drinking before he was supposed to turn himself in on several arrest warrants. They got into her car and “he said he wasn’t going to jail.”

The Bradenton Herald (http://bit.ly/1NmZJ59 ) reports a passenger said Bronner never touched the brakes as the car drove went down the I-75 exit ramp and became airborne.

Bronner is being held without bond. It’s not clear whether he has an attorney.
