EAST NAPLES, Fla.- A deputy who shot and killed a couple’s dog was justified according to an internal review completed by the Collier County Sheriff’s Office. The report released on Tuesday says the use of force by Deputy Demetris Jackson falls within the parameters of policy and state law. Deputy Jackson said he used his weapon in a manner of self-defense when Ben Zacks and Jessica Busse’s dog attacked while he responding to a domestic violence call. Jackson said he was inside a couple’s apartment when the dog came out of the bedroom and started barking, growling and charging after him. The deputy shot the dog five times, saying he was in fear for his life. The couple has hired a private investigator to look into the case.
