Passenger in deadly crash says they were chased

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Cynthia Astacio is mourning the loss of her best friend who crashed and died along Country Club Boulevard in Cape Coral on Saturday.

“He took care of me, he took care of my fiance. He was my best friend.”

Astacio says her friend Marcus Solloway, herself and another friend were driving home when a silver Monte Carlo began driving aggressively, side swiping Solloway’s 2011 Volkswagen GTI and eventually ramming them from behind.

Solloway ran across a median, took out a tree and smashed into two parked cars before coming to a deadly halt by crashing into a Cape Coral house.

Astacio said she knew immediately that her friend was dead.

“Just knowing that I wasn’t gonna have that anymore. It really hurt.”

Astacio was released from the hospital on Saturday afternoon with a fractured arm, a concussion and a variety of scrapes and bruises.  The third passenger was released from the hospital Sunday evening.

Cape Coral police are investigating.
