Fort Myers woman says Craigslist is leading strangers to her home

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Craigslist’s mapping system is leading strangers to a Fort Myers woman’s home.

Pam Chaplow has had four strangers knock on her door over the past 2 and 1/2 months. She realized they all had one thing in common, they were all responding to a Craigslist ad.

“It bothers me,” said Chaplow. “This is just so irresponsible, there has to be some accountability.”

One person showed up to buy a boat, another a home and two others looking for a $500 bonus and a job.

“The person arrived at the door and was not happy.”

Chaplow believes it is a possible glitch in the website’s mapping system. She checked under every category and found 348 ads that showed her address on the map. One was a personal ad, sexual in nature.

“I don’t want that at my doorstep. This is what compromises peoples safety.”

She reached out to Craigslist for help and received an e-mail. It directed her to copy and paste the ad in question. She tried to explain there were hundreds.

“I haven’t gotten a good answer from Craigslist,”said Chaplow.
