NASA/ MGN ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) – Florida officials are purchasing almost 3,000 acres in Collier and Seminole counties for conservation. The Florida Board of Trustees on Tuesday approved buying more than 1,600 acres in Collier County and almost 1,300 acres in Seminole County. The Florida board is paying $2.2 million for the Collier County property, and a federal agency is kicking in another $1.5 million. The property is owned by JB Ranch, which has been operating since the 1940s. The Board of Trustees paid more than $3 million for the Seminole County property and the federal agency kicked in another $1 million. The property is owned by Kilbee Ranch, which has been operating in the same family since the 1920s.
