North Fort Myers streets underwater

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. – Flooding has cleared up on North Fort Myers streets following hours of downpour on Tuesday.

Waterway Estates lived up to its name with Saint Clair Avenue looking like a pond and forcing drivers to find a new way home. Some residents were able to brave the high waters, but others didn’t want to take the chance.

One man decided to make the best of wet conditions, allowing his dog to splash around in ankle-high water.

Businesses located just feet away from underwater roads weren’t thrilled about the flooding.

“It’s bad even for us as a business because you see how slow it is, it bothers the people. Our neighbors, a lot of customers walk, they are not able to go through there,” said business owner Jessica Palacios.

Lee County officials say no roads are closed due to flooding in North Fort Myers.
