PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- Fishermen’s Village is undergoing nearly $40 million of improvements over the next five years.

“We are so excited, the owners are so excited, they intend to invest for the long hall for Fishermen’s Village. They love this community, they love Punta Gorda,” said Kathy Burnam, marketing director at Fishermen’s Village.

Right now, crews are working to widen the main entrance. Improvements will also be made to the marina, bathrooms and center court.

“I’ve been watching Fishermen’s Village kind of come along for the past few years now, and I’ve been waiting for them to make expansions so I’m actually really excited,” said Kayleigh Tuthill, manager of Dragonfly.

A highlight for both people who work and visit Fishermen’s Village is added parking.

“It’s crazy here during season, and actually for a local, you want to try to stay away. So with them expanding, it’s really going to open the place up for a lot more people,” said resident Susan Pannell.

Burnam says over the next five years, renovations will also include a man-made beach, infinity pool and an extension of the city’s harborwalk.
