Artists give stories behind the songs at Island Hopper Fest

FORT MYERS, Fla.- The second annual Island Hopper Songwriter Fest is in full swing.  It features more than 70 songwriters at 23 different concert venues on Captiva Island, Fort Myers Beach, and in downtown Fort Myers.

Jana Kramer is one of the featured artists.  Back in 2008, Jana was a regular on the CW hit show, One Tree Hill, where she was able to introduce her music, as part of the show’s soundtrack.  She left the show in 2012 to pursue her dream career as a performer.

Today, she has a string of smash hits, and a new release that’s climbing the Country Music charts. We caught up with Jana on the road, where she talked about her upcoming concert on Fort Myers Beach, as part of the Second Annual Island Hopper Songwriter Fest.

“I’ve been to Florida, but I haven’t been to that beachside, so I’m really excited,” she said.

Island Hopper Concert-goers will get to hear what inspires songwriters, like Jana, to write songs.

“I’m looking most forward to the Island Hopper Festival.  I love hearing artists sing different songs and hear their stories behind it.”

Jana says if she’s lived it, she writes about it in her songs.

“I want people to feel it, whether it’s happy or sad.”

Over the next ten days, Southwest Florida will play host to many Nashville based performers and their fans, in intimate settings, that include beach bars, sunsets, and warm tropical breezes.
