Gas dips below $2 in parts of SWFL

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- Some Southwest Florida residents are getting a great deal at the pump as gas dips below the $2 mark.

You can now fill up your gas tank at the Super Day Express on McCall Road for just $1.99 a gallon.

“I just ran, changed the price, knocked it down to $1.99 which was kinda cool. Then it was like, someone flipped a switch and it got mad,” said gas station owner John Planiotis.

Super Day Express has been slammed with customers after being the first in the county to drop their regular unleaded gas price to $1.99.

“We’ll put it this way, I have to get two trucks today instead of one. So we already had a truck first thing this morning, we have another truck on its way now, should be here around noon,” said Planiotis.

Drivers in Charlotte County are blown away by the sight, saying it’s been years since they’ve seen prices this low.

“I think it’s great. My husband called me and said ‘do you need gas today?’ I said ‘yes.’ He goes ‘great, go to Super Day $1.99,” said resident Rin Remmers.

Planiotis says the price is a win-win for everyone. Business has nearly doubled and customers are driving away with a smile.
