Sanibel chef battles for America’s best breakfast

SANIBEL ISLAND, Fla. – The Thomas’ brand, creator of the well-known English muffins and bagels, is celebrating its 135th anniversary by searching for the best breakfast in America.

Thomas’ has selected 135 chefs in 135 cites, to find out who can create the best breakfast with its products. The public will vote and decide on an overall winner. Voting opens Monday, September 14 and will stay open for two weeks until the competition advances to the second round where the top 16 advance.

Sanibel Island Executive Chef Melissa Talmage was selected to enter the national contest and made her “Sweet Melissa Stratta,” featuring Thomas’ whole grain English Muffins. The dish is not only delicious but easy to prepare and make, also showcasing hometown local ingredients something the contest encouraged.

Starting at noon on Monday, the public can vote here to cast their ballot for Melissa’s dish or others. Voting is open for two weeks and you can vote once a day, every time you vote, you’re entered in for a chance to win $10,000.
